I have got some requests to start blogging in English so I thought I’d try that for this post. If you want me to switch back to Swedish please let me know by sending me an email or post a comment.

As the true Jetpackers we are we took a private car from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The main reason for this was to visit the Manakamana temple that lies half way. Since it was Saturday this turned out to be a pretty gory experience as the locals where sacrificing goats and roosters at the temple. Before we got there Fredrik thought it was going to be like an Indiana Jones movie where the priest slaughter animals on an altar above a chanting crowd, but it was not like that at all. The slaughter happened behind a little wall but it was still pretty disgusting in there with piles of goat heads lying against the wall and blood everywhere. Henning was amazed that the blood was so vividly red but Fredrik explained that that’s how it looks when blood has a lot of oxygen in it.

Pokhara is a really beautiful town that lies along a little lake with the massive backdrop of the Annapurna range. Unfortunately for us, as long as we’ve been here, thick clouds have been covering the Himalayian side of Pokhara so we haven’t really seen the Annapurnas yet.

Fredrik did some Parahawking which is paragliding but with a tame bird. It basically works like this: The Egyptian vulture called Bob flies back and forth between two tandem gliders collecting small pieces of buffalo meat from one of our outstretched arms while searching for thermal winds. The scariest part according to Fredrik was actually going up to the starting point when they crammed five people in to a small car with Bob, that seemed giginatic compared to the car, riding in the front seat. Fredrik thought parahawking was a really amazing experience and well worth the pretty hefty price of €120 for 40 minutes. Henning didn’t do the flight and instead waited on the ground with a cup of macchiato…

Tomorrow we will leave civilization for 5 days to do the “Poon Hill” trek… stay tuned!

We found a nice park to read in

The day after we decided to cut back a little on our daily expenses we went to this place where pizzas cost as much as back in Sweden which totally blew the budget

On the way up to the Manakamana temple

The temple was one of the most disgusting places I have ever visited, I felt a little sick afterwards

The headless roosters feet are still kicking while a butcher sprays the pumping blood on to the altar

Pokhara is really beautiful

Parahawing!

This paragliding tour was 10 times cooler than the one above Stockholm
